WHO IS JOHN BENTLEY?

Meet the Founder of
Train Leaders Virtually

John Bentley’s speaking and training programs have helped more than 20,000 people transform their organizations into healthy work environments, where team members feel valued, manage tasks better and fully invest their talents to achieve the organization’s goals.

John retired from the Air Force after 21 years and earned a master’s degree in leadership from Grand Canyon University. John is an Air Force Master Instructor and a Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder Centered Leadership Coach. John also holds certifications from Vital Smarts, The Ken Blanchard Companies, and Franklin Covey.

He authored the book, “52 Ways to Motivate Yourself” and is featured in the book “Speaking of Success”. In this book, John shares the "5 Enablers of Success" along with other business experts such as Ken Blanchard (The One-Minute Manager), Jack Canfield (Chicken Soup for the Soul), and Stephen Covey (The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People).

John is based in Hartselle, Alabama, where he lives with his wife, Laura. They have four children and three grandchildren.

John's Story

John's ‘aha moment’ came early in his Air Force career when he received feedback that his leadership style under pressure was similar to someone opening a coke can after it was shaken. This led him on a journey to discover why he behaved poorly in tough situations. 
 
He discovered the best leaders know how to intentionally influence themselves to achieve the best results through and with others in spite of the day-to-day chaos.

In contrast, leaders who struggle and become frustrated do so because they remain captive to their own beliefs, attitudes and priorities that blind them to the reality of a situation and the needs of the organization.
 
Now for the good news. Just like John you and your leaders are not trapped in their current psychological comfort zones. They can learn healthy ways of thinking, feeling and behaving to move beyond their autopilot responses and become the leader other trust and willingly follow.

John’s goal is simple: to help successful clinical and non-clinical healthcare leaders achieve positive, lasting behavior change for themselves, their people, their teams, and their families.

Consider the example of a hospital that John had the privilege of working with. Two directors were required to combine their departments and share the workload. Both directors wanted to do things their way. As a result, they became frustrated with each other and the project stalled.​

 

Yet, with some coaching, John helped them come to a point of mutual understanding, each valuing the other, to solve the problem. The result? By simply opening a dialog and establishing mutual respect and mutual purpose, they were able to cut $49,000 in excess costs.
